How to Get the Ultra Beasts
Complete the Main Story
In order to find the Ultra Beasts in Sword and Shield you'll have to first complete the main story of the Crown Tundra and unlock the final Ultra Beast story. Keep in mind you will also have had to complete the post-game as well as the Isle of Armor storyline to get to this point.

Pick Up the Item in Freezington Inn
Upon completion of your final Legendary Clue, Peony will take off and drop an item at the door. Pick it up to receive the Legendary Clue? item that eludes to the Ultra Beasts appearing above the Max Lair. Head there to start your search within Dynamax Adventures!
Randomly Appear in Dynamax Adventures
Unlike the previous generation, Ultra Beasts will appear the same as legendary Pokemon as the final encounter of Dynamax Adventures. This also means that to catch them you won't need a surplus of Beast Balls so bring your favorites to catch every UB you can!
The only UB that isn't found within a Dynamax Adventure is Poipole

Join Someone Else With a Link Code
While the chance of an Ultra Beast spawning is random, if you and another player who already has access to a specific Ultra Beast, setting both of your Link Codes to the same number will guarantee you can connect with them. Take a look at our Max Raid and Dynamax Adventures recruitment board to find other players to hunt with!

Available Through Pokemon HOME
Just like any other Pokemon in the game's data, you can obtain the Ultra Beasts by transferring them from Pokemon's cloud service, Pokemon HOME, to the game as well.

Are Ultra Beasts Shiny Locked?
UBs in Dynamax Adventures Can be Shiny
Just like Legendaries in the Max Lair, UBs can be shiny as well. With the increased rate of shiny Pokemon appearing in Dynamax Adventures anyone can give it a shot.
Poipole is Shiny Locked
The Poipole you receive in the Max Lair, on the other hand, is shiny locked due to the way it's obtained. There may be a way to receive a shiny Poipole in the future like during Gen VII!
What Are Ultra Beasts?
Mysterious Lifeforms From Pokemon Sun and Moon
The Ultra Beasts first made their appearance in the previous Generation's Sun and Moon as mysterious entities that came into the Pokemon world. Before their names were revealed they were all known by code names.
